Future Presidents

In all, 32 of our 43 U.S. presidents have served in the military. Eleven U.S. presidents had no military service at all. To date, no U.S. president has ever been a member of the Marine Corps or Coast Guard.

Presidents who did serve in the military but did not fight and would not be considered war veterans include George W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, William Howard Taft, Millard Fillmore, James Polk, James Madison and Thomas Jefferson. It is entirely possible that an Iraq or Afghanistan-era veteran will become president of the United States one day.

The military core values of decision-making and integrity have served our nation well, producing leaders that served in America’s highest military office: Commander-in-Chief.
