Job Description:

Manager of Engineering- Broadband Logical and Physical Circuit Design

How did you get the job?

I met Angel Ramos, Principal-Talent Acquisition for Windstream Communications, at a career fair in Camp Lejeune, NC. I spoke with him and left my resume with him. I applied for many positions and was contacted about a position that was best suited for me. I received a phone interview and was set up for a face-to-face interview. I received an offer and accepted.

Why did you choose this job?

After speaking with Angel Ramos and researching the company online, I was very impressed with the company. I saw potential for career progression and a company that suited my skill set very well.

What is the best part of the job?

I enjoy the people I work with very much. I like a challenge or I get bored very easily. This company is constantly moving forward and provides me constant challenges with the many projects happening. It is just a great work environment and I am continuously learning new things that make it even more enjoyable to me.

What was the biggest transition headache?

The biggest transition headache is the job search itself. As a veteran, you know you bring many skills and experience to the plate. It is difficult, sometimes, to translate that over to the civilian workforce in a way that they feel comfortable hiring you for a specific position. You get turned down for position after position and you wonder “what is wrong with me?”. It is very stressful, but using resources available and Military Recruitment Specialists is the key. I am very thankful for Angel Ramos and all the others working to help the veterans like him.

What skills did you bring with you?

Many years of leadership and supervisory skills. Telecommunications skills. Training skills. Data skills.
